Furman University offers its students the opportunity of a ten-week study period in Madrid from September to late November. Classes on Spanish art, contemporary literature and the Spanish language are conducted in Spanish five days a week by a team of instructors at the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija. The program is planned to give the students varied experiences to add to the knowledge gained in the classroom: three-day weekends for travel; attendance at theatrical performances; living with carefully-selected Spanish families; and a week of travel through Spain after the study period. After the long trip, the students may choose to travel further in Europe or return directly to the States. The entire program in Spain is carefully supervised by a professor of Furman University who accompanies the group. Only students from Furman University are eligible for this program. A few exceptions have been made to this general rule.
